What is the difference between compound microscope and dissecting microscope?

Compound microscopes offer high magnification for thin, transparent specimens, producing a 2D inverted image. Dissecting microscopes (stereomicroscopes) provide lower magnification but a 3D, upright, non-inverted view of larger, opaque objects, ideal for dissection and surface examination.
