What is 401a refrigerant?

R-401A is a hydrochlorofluorocarbon (HCFC) refrigerant blend, also known by its trade name MP39. It was developed as a "drop-in" replacement for R-12 (CFC) in existing refrigeration systems, particularly in automotive air conditioning and some commercial refrigeration applications. Due to its ozone depletion potential, it is being phased out.
