What are split stems?

Split stems are a modification in a stem-and-leaf plot when too many data points (leaves) fall on a single stem. To prevent overcrowding and better display the distribution, each stem is split. For instance, a stem representing '20s' might be split into '2' for leaves 0-4 and '2*' for leaves 5-9. This offers a more detailed view of the data.
