How does a king valve work?

A king valve is located at the outlet of the liquid receiver in refrigeration systems. It works by turning a stem to open or close an internal port, controlling liquid refrigerant flow. Closing it isolates the receiver and condenser, allowing service on the downstream system without losing refrigerant charge. Opening it permits flow towards the expansion device.
